Program for Traveling Ph.D. Candidates
The IAC Traveling Scholar Program enables doctoral-level students at participating ACC universities to take advantage of distinctive educational opportunities- specialized courses, unique library collections, unusual laboratories- at any other participating ACC university without change in registration or increase in tuition. Visits may be as short as two weeks or as long as two semesters (or three quarters). Any regularly admitted graduate student in good standing in a doctoral degree program is eligible to apply. This program has two components. The first, and most important, is the policy agreement among the universities that Ph.D. students may experience another ACC university while maintaining their status (e.g. stipends) at their home university. The second is ACCIAC-funded program for the reimbursement of expenses involved with the relocation, typically $1000 for students visiting for a full academic term or longer or $500 for a shorter experience Since the monies for expense reimbursement are limited and the permission procedures are a bit complex, students often informally pursue the first opportunity without applying for the reimbursement stipend. .
